Carrot Apple Soup recipe and Steeped Tea review!
Did you know that tea is the second most consumed beverage in the world after water?
Tea houses are popping up all over the place just like the coffee shop craze of the 90s.
Steeped Tea is a Canadian company founded in 2007. Steeped Tea carries over 60 different types of loose tea and all of the accessories needed to enjoy your favourite cuppa including teapots, infusers, scone mixes, jams and hand crafted soaps! (They are growing fast and have just announced that they are moving to a new 6000sq ft office/ warehouse!) You can check out their catalogue online or contact them to find a consultant near you.
Tea delivered to your door and free tea for hosting a tea party with friends - does it get any better??
I was lucky enough to get to try some of Steeped Tea's products.
Secret Weapon - Wellness Tea
Secret Weapon is an herbal tea that is great to sip while unwinding after a long day. I was pleasantly surprised with the taste of this tea as I am not usually a fan of chamomile teas. The chamomile taste is very subtle. This tea is a lovely blend of fennel, chamomile, peppermint, cardamon, lemon balm, lemon grass, valerian root, lavender, sage leaves and nutmeg. (Check out the label on all Steeped Tea products - all the ingredients in each tea are listed.) I prefer to sip this tea hot while cuddled under a warm blanket before bed after The Littles are tucked into bed or when I am soaking in a hot bubble bath.
Veg-Tea Dip Mix
Cooking with tea? You bet! The kids really enjoyed dunking mini carrots in the dip. I snacked on the leftovers the next day and Holy Cow! The dip was even better! I want to try adding it to hummus or artichoke dip next.
I got creative with the Veg-Tea Dip Mix and tried in a Carrot Apple Soup recipe. The soup turned out fantastic and was so easy to make!
Carrot Apple Veg-Tea Soup
3 Tbsp butter/ margerine
1 large onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
4 cups chicken stock
8 large carrots, peeled and chopped into 1/2 inch rounds
1 apple, peeled and chopped
1 Tbsp Steeped Tea Veg-Tea Dip Mix
1/2 cup heavy cream or milk
Melt butter in a pot and cooked onion and garlic until slight browned. Add chicken stock, carrots and apples. Cover and cook until carrots are tender. Add dip mix and milk and puree with a hand blender (or regular blender in small batches - watch out! It's hot!) I added a dollop of the Veg-Tea Dip leftovers to the soup to add even more flavour!
The Veg-Tea mix includes Sencha green tea, Matcha green tea, rice, onion flakes, parsley, garlic powder, herbs and spices.
